What we store
- Your account: the character name you choose and your password, stored only as a salted scrypt hash (we can't read it).
- Your character: skills, items, bank, position, appearance and progress.
- Sign-in sessions: a random token, kept in your browser and as a one-way hash on our server, for 30 days.
- Chat: public chat isn't stored. The last few lines a player said are kept in memory while they're online, and saved only if someone reports them, as part of that report.
- Technical logs: your IP address, and when you log in and out, in the server's logs.
- In your browser only: settings, your ignore list and, in single-player, your save.
We don't ask for your email, real name or payment details, and the site has no advertising or tracking cookies.
Why
To run your account and save your progress, to stop cheating, flooding and abuse (which is why we look at IP addresses and reports), and to keep the service working.
How long
Accounts and characters are kept while the account exists. Sessions expire after 30 days. Server logs and nightly backups are kept for up to 14 days. Reports are kept until a moderator has dealt with them, then for up to 90 days.
Who sees it
Only the people who run Willowmere, and its moderators when they handle reports. Other players see your character name, appearance, position in the world and what you say in chat. The website is hosted by Vercel and the game server by our hosting provider; they process data only to provide that hosting. We don't sell or share personal data with anyone else.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your account and its data. Deleting an account removes its character, sessions and reports filed about it.
Children
Willowmere is for players aged 13 and over. If you're under 13, please don't make an account. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 13, we'll delete it.
